Hear from Gary Carroll and Heather Linaker sharing their partnership over a number of years and follow the career of an executive leader through his journey across multiple executive leadership roles within a large-scale listed company environment, before stepping into a completely new industry and taking on an elevated role in this new environment. We will explore how the leader and coach utilised The Leadership Circle and a coaching relationship at each stage of the journey, to enable the leader to transform from being a head-led leader to a more balanced head-gut-heart leader, and to build the courage to successfully navigate a significant change of industry, role and leadership style.

Gary Carroll

Gary Carroll joined Australia’s largest for-profit early childhood education provider, G8 Education, as Chief Financial Officer in July 2016 and was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director in January 2017. An ASX200 company, G8 Education comprises approximately 10,000 team members across a network of more than 500 early learning centres in Australia, providing quality early education to more than 50,000 Australian children every week.

Gary’s leadership experience also includes roles with National Australia Bank as Director of Institutional Banking and retail travel group, Flight Centre, where he was General Manager, Business Services.  Read Gary’s full biography.

Heather Linaker

Heather has a blended role at the Stephenson Mansell Group: she co-leads the business in Queensland as one of the two State Directors, and she is also an executive coach and mentor. In the latter role, she works with CEOs and senior executives to accelerate their leadership development and to optimise the value they add to their organisations and broader stakeholders whilst ensuring that they retain their authenticity. Understanding the rhythms and cycles of such roles, Heather supports her clients to excel by being their confidante, challenger, cheerleader, supporter and sounding board—and by holding them to account.

Heather is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She has an MBA from Deakin University and an MA (in Geography) from the University of Cambridge. Read Heather’s full biography.
